Cwmbran URC is celebrating the achievements of Diane Brain, our Church Secretary, who was recently presented with a Volunteer Award from Torfaen County Borough Council.
Diane has been instrumental in relaunching our weekly coffee morning as ‘Thingamabob Thursday’. Our numbers have increased as we have been able to welcome new people to our monthly community meal as well as on a Thursday. Some of those who attend have additional needs and all join together to play board games, jigsaw puzzles and various crafts or simply to chat.
On winning the award Diane said “Surprised is an understatement. I would like to thank my fellowship for the support they have given me whilst serving our local community on Thursday mornings and monthly lunch club.”
She went on, “For me the high light of the evening was when my turn came that Cwmbran United Reformed Church was mentioned.”
