Winter Dances Bringing Community Together at Pontprennau Community Church

At Pontprennau Community Church, strong partnerships and a welcoming spirit are helping people connect, stay active, and build friendships within the local community.

Working closely with Cardiff Wellbeing Services, the church hosts a range of activities for the over 50s, including Tai Chi, low-impact fitness classes, and weekly table tennis sessions. These groups have become an important part of community life, offering opportunities for exercise, conversation, and support in a friendly and inclusive environment.

Alongside the weekly activities, the church also hosts a popular seasonal dance every quarter. These events have become a real highlight for many who attend, bringing together people from across the different groups for an afternoon of music, dancing, refreshments, and laughter. The dances help foster a strong sense of belonging and connection between those who use the centre.

Reflecting on the impact of the groups, organisers shared how rewarding it has been to be involved and to get to know the many people who attend regularly.

“Every quarter we hold a seasonal dance which has proved really popular. Everyone comes along and has a dance, and it fosters a real sense of community between the groups that use the centre. I have been so blessed to be part of all these things and to get to know all the people involved.” – Rev Lee Battle

Pontprennau Community Church continues to offer a warm welcome to anyone who would like to get involved, meet new people, and enjoy the activities on offer.

Everyone is welcome to join in!
