Two different journeys were made along the Penrhys Pilgrimage way during May to promote and raise money for Christian Aid.
The first involved Rob Moverley and David Nutbrown-Hughes walking the whole route (22 miles) from Llandaff to Penrhys in one day. They were not being sponsored, but it was an opportunity to raise awareness of Christian Aid week – Rob carried a bucket and they both wore Christian Aid T-shirts. Sadly, the bucket remained empty apart from a few cm of water that gathered as a result of the rain showers they walked through. On the plus side, this gave them an opportunity to do what pilgrimage is all about – chat and get to know each other a little bit more and in the silence appreciate the beauty of the South Wales valleys. There were some very tired limbs at the end of the day.
A group from Llanfair Penrhys chose to do the Pilgrimage route in a different way – going North to South from Penrhys to Llandaff over a couple of days. They did the first part from Penrhys to Trebanog and, at the time of writing, intend walking the remainder of the route during the Spring Bank Holiday. They are being sponsored and have so far raised over £300 for Christian Aid.
