Victorian Festival Service at Caebach Chapel, Llandrindod Wells

Caebach Chapel stepped back in time on Sunday 30 August as worshippers and visitors gathered for a special service celebrating Llandrindod Wells’ annual Victorian Festival.

Despite the Welsh weather putting a dampener on the day’s proceedings, those who attended certainly looked the part! Beautiful period costumes filled the chapel as the community came together for worship, live music and a celebration of the town’s heritage

“For the past four years, Addoldai Cymru | Welsh Religious Buildings Trust which has taken a long term lease for both Carmel and Caebach chapels, has taken part in the annual Llandrindod Wells Victorian Festival. The Festival is a week-long event held in the town, where participants dress in full Victorian costume and enjoy a series of themed events, including theatre performances, craft workshops and a grand ball. The Trust’s service at Caebach chapel on the final day of the event has become a firm event favourite, with people travelling considerable distances to attend. The service has been led every year by the Revd. Wynne Roberts, BEM, Chaplain Manager of the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board in North Wales, who is a Trust Supporter, and the catering has been undertaken by Sue Cole, formerly of the URC, who is a committed Trust Volunteer. The chapel itself is open to visitors throughout the weekend.”

Our thanks go to everyone who took part in this year’s service and braved the weather to celebrate with us. We’re delighted to share a few photographs from the day and, judging by the outfits, an enormous amount of work went into making the occasion special!
