Van Road United Reformed Church, Caerphilly, has been busy enhancing its surroundings — thanks to a grant from the Welsh Church Act Fund, administered by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
As part of our journey towards caring for creation, a key recommendation following our Eco Church Bronze Award was to improve the look and environmental value of our car park. With the funding, we were able to remove old wire fencing and install raised, narrow planters at the top of the car park and along the pavement edge.
Planting has now begun, and the response from both church users and the wider community has been overwhelmingly positive. The new greenery not only improves the appearance of the area but also supports our commitment to sustainability and community welcome.
We’re excited to see how the new planting grows and continues to enhance our space — another step towards being a ‘Good News’ church for God’s creation.
