The Eco Church Roadshow comes to Cardiff

Our latest Eco Church Roadshow event was held in City URC on Saturday, 8th February. It brought together enthusiastic representatives from the Cardiff and Penarth Pastorate churches, Barry Uniting and Llanfair Uniting churches, and Van Road URC. As always, one of the most valuable aspects of the day was being able to meet with others and build connections.

We began the day in worship based on Sensio Divina in which we were invited to use our senses and imagination to see God’s glory in all creation.

Delyth Higgins, the Eco Church Officer for Wales, then highlighted the recent changes to the Eco Church award scheme and explained how the updated survey will encourage impactful action across all areas of church life.

We shared different aspects of our Eco Church journeys and heard about some of the great projects going on in our local churches – from the inspiring building and land at Barry Uniting, to the community gardening in Canton and City, to the street art in Beulah. A highlight of the day was hearing from Leo Munnik from Canton Uniting who reflected movingly on Eco Church from a young person’s perspective.

We discussed what our immediate next steps could be and finished the day with some artistic responses to what we had shared.

The purpose of the Eco Church Roadshow is to reflect together, share stories and ideas, gather information and resources, and make plans so that across the Synod we may all be ‘Good News for God’s Creation’.
