Synod Meeting gathered at The Priory Centre, Abergavenny on Saturday 17 October.
The National Synod of Wales gathered at The Priory Centre in Abergavenny on Saturday 17 October 2026 for a day of worship, fellowship and discussion about the life and future of the Church.
The meeting began with opening worship led by Revd Julie Kirby and Revd Branwen Rees, bringing everyone together in prayer and reflection before the day’s business.
During the morning session, Chris Atherton provided an update on the Synod’s finances, while Martha Hunt from Place for Hope shared insights into the organisation’s work.
Following a break for lunch and an opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues from across the Synod, the afternoon focused on the URC-wide conversation about the Ministry and Mission Fund. This provided an opportunity for thoughtful discussion and reflection on an important issue affecting the wider Church.
The day concluded with worship led by the Synod Moderator, Revd David Salsbury. A particularly special moment was the commissioning of Bethan Trott as an Assembly Accredited Lay Preacher, marking an important milestone in her ministry.
Our congratulations and prayers go to Bethan as she continues to serve the Church in this role.
Thank you to everyone who attended, presented and contributed to the discussions throughout the day. It was a valuable opportunity to come together as a Synod, share perspectives, strengthen connections and reflect on our shared mission.
