Rededication Service St David’s, Treforest

On Saturday, November 9 a full church was blessed with a wonderful re-dedication service to celebrate the move of St. David’s Uniting Church, Pontypridd to Castle Street Treforest.

The service was introduced by a church  member, Iestyn Henson and readings were delivered by Jan Harris and Beti Jones.

Prayers were led by Rev. Gethin Rhys, a former minister of Castle Square Church, Treforest.  We were reminded to give thanks to all our forefathers who had worked tirelessly in various churches to prepare the way for St David’s Uniting Church to  be in Castle Street, Treforest.

The very appropriate and thought provoking reflection was delivered by Rev. Dr. Phil Wall, a previous minister of St. David’s Uniting Church and Castle Square. Phil had been instrumental in leading the congregation in the early stages of the move  to Treforest.

Re. Simon Walkling and Mrs. Sue Walkling led the Benediction and blessing. Simon, too, was a past minister at St. David’s Uniting Church.

The hymns chosen ensured that the singing reflected the traditional Welsh “hwyl”.

After the service, over refreshments, there was an opportunity to enjoy fellowship and catch up with friends whom  we had not met for a while.

All were impressed and delighted with our new building in Treforest and wished us well in our worship and community projects.

We are truly blest to be there.
