The Pembrokeshire show, held every August, is an annual celebration of the life of our county – bringing together farming communities, local people and visitors.
The ‘Churches Together’ tent has become a regular part of the Show. This year, on August 20th and 21st, we flew a new flag outside the tent, to help people find us.
As ever, there was tea and coffee, conversation around the tables, a place to leave your written prayers, and a friendly welcome, with simple games outside for children, which are always popular. We were led in communion by Bishop Dorrien of St David’s Diocese on the Wednesday morning, and local ministers led afternoon prayers at 4pm and the communion service on the Thursday. We praised God together and reflected on our unity in Christ, our place in God’s household, and our need of God’s caring Spirit.
The tent was ‘staffed’ by members and ministers from churches and chapels of the Annibynwyr, United Reformed Church, Congregational Federation and the Church in Wales, and funded from those denominations. We were truly ‘churches together’. The highlight came when someone outside the tent asked “which church is this?” and it was great to be able to reply “all of them – together”. The man smiled and responded, “oh then I’m coming in!”.
Thanks to God for being present with us over two wonderful days.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to provide refreshments, prayer and a listening ear. And a huge thanks to all who came and visited the tent.
See you next year – August 19th and 20th, 2026.
