On a beautiful early summer evening, a group of folk from the churches in the North Wales region went on a prayer walk around Basingwerk Abbey.

The abbey is at the bottom of the Greenfield Valley running down to the Dee from Holywell and building began in the 12th century. It was, of course, dissolved by Henry VIII three centuries later, but there are still substantial remains.
Using the original usage of the rooms as a guide, prayers were offered for the churches and their leaders, for governments, for our everyday connections, food poverty, farmers and those who find themselves homeless. It was a new venture but one that the group hope will be repeated.
