The National Synod of Wales were pleased to host our annual Lay Ministry Weekend in The Metropole, Llandrindod Wells at the beginning of November. The Synod’s Lay Preaching Advocate, Maggie, led the weekend which hosted an array of speakers.
The theme was “We are pilgrims spreading God’s message” encouraging a thoughtful journey through our Christian life and the lives of all who attend worship. Revd Dr Robert Pope, from Westminster College, was our keynote speaker helping us to understand more about the Old Testament and its place in our worship and then how the Old Testament journeys inform our Christian pilgrimage. We were joined by Delyth Higgins on Zoom, helping us to encourage our Eco Church growth, Russell Davies helped explain more about IT in worship and other speakers from the Synod Support Team spoke on a variety of subjects. There were also lovely contributions to worship from amongst the attendees too.
There was plenty of time for discussion, song and worship ending with a Communion service on Sunday morning led by Revd David Salsbury. It was a joyful event and well appreciated by all who attended, some veteran attenders and several new ones, which is encouraging. Now the work begins to arrange next year!
