Rev’d Branwen Rees, East Wales Regional Minister
It’s been a busy couple of months around East Wales…

In July, Bailey Street Uniting Church, Brynmawr, held an afternoon tea and raised £450. Together with a donation from a memorial service held at the church they were able to send £600 to the charity, Embrace the Middle East.
Ebenezer URC, Pontnewynydd held a concert in the Ebenezer Centre with popular pianist Richard West and guest vocalist Dave MItchell. A good time was had by all.

Sardis Chapel, Ynysddu, held a Church Open Day to encourage folk from the village to pop in and have a look around the chapel and hall. There were refreshments available, children’s activities and URC merchandise all for free. Although not as busy as we would have liked, we still had a number of visitors who had never been to the chapel before, so it was good to spend time with them and chat about what we offer.
Dan-y-Graig, Risca, held a Tabletop Sale and Afternoon Tea, raising nearly £1200 combined.
There is more to look forward to in September as Cwmbran URC marks 25 years since their formation. This will be celebrated with one of their legendary Hog Roasts on Saturday 6th September followed by a service of celebration on Sunday 7th.
