Farewell to Paul Robinson

On the 15th and 16th August the congregation at the United Church in Rhyl gathered with friends from the North Wales Region and Synod to say goodbye to Paul, Jo and Rachel Robinson. Paul has been called to serve as Synod Moderator for the URC’s Southern Synod.

Paul’s ministry in Rhyl began in June 2011 when he was Ordained and Inducted to serve the United Church (URC/PCW). Over 15 years the church has seen many changes, most notably with the establishment of the ASK centre – a multi-agency advice, support and community hub which operates as a ministry of the Church from its Christ Church site in Rhyl town centre.

On Saturday 15th August the church hosted a ‘thank you’ tea, with speeches, gifts and presentations to Paul and family in appreciation of his ministry. Many commented on how grateful they were to Paul for his care, pastoral support, gentle leadership and inspiring worship.

Then on Sunday Paul led worship for the final time at Christ Church in the morning, and an evening service at Tynewydd Rd formally concluded his ministry at the United Church in Rhyl. The service ended with Paul playing a rendition of The Halleluiah Chorus on the organ!

Diolch yn fawr Paul! You, Jo and Rachel will be missed in Wales, but you go with our prayers and blessings to Southern Synod, whose gain is our loss!
