Supporting Mission and Growth Through the Mission and Development Fund

Churches and projects across the National Synod of Wales are being encouraged to explore funding opportunities through the Mission and Development Fund, which supports initiatives that help churches engage in God’s mission within their communities.

The fund has already supported projects such as Rivertown, helping churches develop new opportunities for outreach, community engagement, and mission-focused growth.

A range of funding options are available:

  • Main grants of up to £40,000
  • Development grants of up to £10,000 to help churches shape and plan projects with professional support
  • Repayable grants of up to £50,000 for larger projects over £150,000 where bridging funding may be needed

Any development grant awarded will be deducted from a future main grant if the project proceeds.

Applications must demonstrate how the proposed project supports at least one of the five mission criteria outlined in The National Synod of Wales and Our Part in God’s Mission.

Churches applying should also note that no application will be accepted from churches which have not submitted a Gift Aid claim to HMRC within the previous twelve months.

The Mission and Development Fund aims to support churches in developing sustainable, creative, and mission-focused work that responds to the needs of their local communities.
