On Easter Monday, Libanus with Barham, Ebbw Vale, held their annual Singing Festival, which this year celebrated its 80th anniversary.
The church, close to full, welcomed guests from around the heads of the valley, guided in fine voice by the Beaufort Male Voice Choir, the Festival Choir (which is based at Libanus), Showstoppers Musical Theatre Company, Ebbw Vale Ladies Choir, Spirit Choir and the Jordan James Ensemble. Those gathered raised their voices in song and praise over three services, one for children, women and the grand evening finale.
Revd Craig James, Revd Mary Davies and Revd Teify Ebenezer presided over events, giving thanks for the festival, church and its continuing witness to the people of Ebbw Vale.
Festival Conductor Mackenzie Paget and Organist Lyndon Stephens added to proceedings with many humorous exchanges over the course of the day.
Keeping an event of this size alive is a huge undertaking and congratulations must be given to everyone at Libanus with Barham for their work. I look forward to attending the 81st Festival.
With thanks to Joel Sainsbury
