Eco Synod Bronze Award

The National Synod of Wales is delighted to announce that we have successfully achieved an Eco Synod Bronze Award from A Rocha UK, as part of the Eco Church programme.

To achieve the award, the synod demonstrated a commitment to creation care through its policies, training, activities and resources, as well as through the number of churches engaged with Eco Church. Delyth Higgins, Eco Church Officer for Wales, commended the synod for its teamwork in different aspects, including the Eco Box initiative, participation in the URC Net Zero Task Group and engagement with URC Youth.

Eileen Newington, Synod Green Advocate, said, “Each church registered with Eco Church and progressing through the scheme, and every congregation caring for creation and acting for climate justice, is part of this award. Gaining a Bronze Award is an exciting achievement for the National Synod of Wales and we should be very pleased. I hope the award will be a great encouragement to us all as we continue our environmental work together in our churches and Synod and across the URC.”

Megan Price, Synod Clerk, said, “We’re thrilled to have reached this milestone on our journey to meet the United Reformed Church’s commitment to reach Net Zero by 2030. A Rocha have supported us so well throughout this process. We’re excited to get working towards a Silver Award!”
