Celebrating 50 years of the URC

On Saturday 15 April, we celebrated 50 years of the United Reformed Church with a special Service of Thanksgiving and Celebration at Methodist Central Hall, London. Folk from across the URC gathered with ecumenical friends to rejoice in, and reflect on, our journey together and what it has taught us.

A recording of the service, along with a downloadable order of service, is available on the URC website here.

As part of the service, each Synod Moderator placed a candle representing their synod on to a map of the UK. These candles were sent away with different Moderators to be a focus of prayer. We will share news about our candle’s synod and our prayers for them soon.

The service included the hymns and a poem that won last year’s Worship Resources Competition. These are available on the URC website in many formats for you to use in your own services. Below you can watch a video of Neil Thorogood reading his winning poem Always Trust the Star That Guides.
