Aelwyd Housing Association wins award

Aelwyd Housing won the award for ‘Excellence in Customer Service’ at this year’s Chartered Institute of Housing’s Welsh Housing Awards.

The Welsh Housing Awards celebrate the creativity, passion and innovation of housing organisations and individuals across the sector. The need to deliver excellent service is more important than ever and the ‘Excellence in Customer Service’ award category recognises housing teams who go above and beyond to deliver outstanding customer service.

Aelwyd Housing won the award for the care and commitment they demonstrate towards their residents. Aelwyd has a ‘kindness first’ approach to every interaction with residents and focusses on the individual through ‘What matters to you?’ surveys. In May 2022, Aelwyd was the top performing traditional social landlord in the Welsh Government Tenant Satisfaction Survey.

Aelwyd is a housing association with a Christian ethos. It was founded in 1991 as a partnership between the Baptist Housing Association, the Presbyterian Church of Wales, and the Wales Province of the United Reformed Church. Aelwyd provides homes and builds communities through Christian care and compassion in ten local authorities across Wales.

The association is independent of its founding denominations but retains strong links. Claire Boot, the Synod Property Officer, currently serves as a member of the association’s board.
