A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Rhiwbina

Beulah URC in Rhiwbina, Cardiff, has applied for the renewal of the Green Flag Award from Keep Wales Tidy for its community garden, after its first award in 2020.

The small community garden is cared for by members of Beulah URC and is open daily to members of the public. It nestles behind Canolfan Beulah at the crossroads in the centre of Rhiwbina and is accessible from Pantbach Road, as well as through the patio doors from the Canolfan.

The garden has mature flowerbeds, a herb garden, and some vegetables that are looked after by the children in Junior Church. It is sheltered from the wind and the traffic and many people comment that is a peaceful haven, especially during the Covid pandemic.

In the summer, the garden is used for wedding photographs, children’s activities and open air church services. The men’s shed group meet in the attached garage/workshop and help with some of the maintenance. The garden is run on an organic basis with all garden waste being recycled to compost.

If you are in Rhiwbina, do pop in and enjoy!
